What is Intuitive Eating?
Intuitive Eating is a framework based on ten principles that can help you improve your relationship with food and your body. It rejects diet culture and helps you relearn how to listen to and trust internal cues of hunger, fullness, and satisfaction rather than following external rules.
Is Intuitive Eating right for me?
Intuitive Eating could help you improve your relationship with food and your body if you:
Have a history of frequent dieting
Are tired of counting or tracking every bite or movement
Have a difficult relationship with food
Binge eat
Have a long list of "good" and "bad" foods
Describe yourself as an emotional eater
Struggle with body image
Restrict food
Equate health with the size of your body
i‘m Still Not sure…
It is normal to have resistance to this approach to food. Perhaps you are thinking Intuitive Eating can't work for me because,
If I let myself eat cookies whenever I want, I will never stop.
All the foods I like are bad for me.
I don't even know what to eat if I am not following a diet plan.
My doctor says I need to lose weight for my health.
_____ (fill in the blank diet) worked for me in the past, I just need to get serious about it again.
I am an emotional eater. After a stressful day, I don't stop eating chips until I hit the bottom of the bag.
That is the skeptic speaking!
Intuitive Eating is not giving up. It is not about eating all the things all the time.
Intuitive Eating helps you learn how to support your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing by tuning into your body’s own needs and wisdom.
Will I lose weight with Intuitive Eating?
In class, you will learn to listen to your internal cues and support yourself with good self-care including health promoting behaviors. That is the focus; weight will sort itself out from there. Anything promising weight loss is not Intuitive Eating.
It is ok to want to be an Intuitive Eater and wish your body looked different. That is normal and welcome in class.
You can expect to gain more pleasure and satisfaction from food and more peace and comfort in your right-now body.
What about my health?
Intuitive Eaters have lower:
Disordered eating
Triglycerides
Emotional Eating
Binge Eating
Blood Pressure
Body Dissatisfaction
Intuitive Eaters have higher:
Self-esteem
Food Variety
HDL (good cholesterol)
Pleasure from Eating
Motivation for movement
Life Satisfaction
What’s Included In The Intuitive Eating Class?
As a former Intuitive Eating skeptic turned Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I will walk you through each of the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating with a weekly video lesson (also available as an audio track to listen on-the-go) and a variety of supporting activities, questionnaires, and reflection exercises to help you practice the work.
New modules are released weekly and you have access to the full course for 6 months from the date the last module is released. This gives the the flexibility to work at your own pace or revisit material as needed. Everything is individual so there are no group calls to work around or live sessions to attend.
A class for skeptics wouldn't be complete without the ability to ask questions and share thoughts. The program encourages you to directly message me at anytime with things big, small, hard, or silly. I will personally respond within a day or two.
The class will address your questions, concerns, and doubts about rule-free eating, health and weight, and how you can find more pleasure in food and comfort in your body.
Anyone, anywhere can take and learn from the class series. For those living in eligible states like Minnesota and Wisconsin, there is an option for additional 1-on-1 support during or after the program with 50% off an Initial Nutrition Consultation. Insurance benefits may also apply.
Individual support might be right for you if you are also managing a medical diagnosis like diabetes, a past eating disorder, you thrive on extra accountability, or you want support to continue the work after the course is over. Please reach out to determine eligibility for additional support, if interested.
How Much Does it Cost?
The 12-week series costs $375. There is also a payment plan available with 3 monthly payments of $125.
